PARMAforEXPO: the business delegation from the Philippines arrives in Parma today

News

The visit, the first of three planned for this week, has been organized in collaboration with UNIDO – the United Nations Organization that helps developing countries and offers a sound business opportunity for the food technology industry in Parma.

Parma, May, 19th, 2015 – The PARMAforEXPO Working Table today  welcomed the first of three foreign business delegations expected this week. All three appointments were made possible thanks to the  partnership between the Parma system and UNIDO, the United Nations organization that helps developing countries and transition economies. The PARMAforEXPO Working Table aimed to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the visit of these delegations to EXPO 2015 with an educational tour of the Parma area and B2B matching: the aim is to establish business contacts with countries that are different from the usual foreign strategic trade partners.

The first group of guests is from the Philippines: with a population of 98.3 million people, this Asian country has enjoyed  positive economic performance in the past few years. According to World Bank data, GDP in the Philippines in 2014 was worth 272 billion dollars, a growth of 6% compared to the 12 previous months; the estimated growth for 2015 is 6.5%. This trend is expected to continue in 2016 and 2017.

The Philippine delegation to Parma consists of six companies that operate in the agri-food, agro-industrial and packaging sectors: these are businesses seeking partnerships for the purchase of industrial machinery, for technology transfer and for the creation of joint ventures.

The Philippines delegation day in Parma opened with the welcome of the authorities at Palazzo Soragna. Cesare Azzali, Director of UPI – Parma Industrialists Association and President of the PARMAforEXPO Working Table welcomed the guests. The group will then visit the Parma headquarters of Sidel, the global group that provides specialized PET packaging solutions for the beverage industry, with about 30,000 machines in 190 countries.
