RESEARCH & INNOVATION

As stated in the Europa 2020 programme document, over the next decade the EU aims to become a “smart, sustainable and inclusive” economy. A cornerstone of this strategy is innovation: investment in research and development is an investment in the competitiveness of the economic system.

The Emilia-Romagna Region and the Parma territory represent a virtuous example within the Italian framework: President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, states that one of his legislature’s goals is to achieve in excess of 2% of GDP invested in research and development.

This thanks to the presence of sound university institutions, experimental research stations and a multitude of entrepreneurial entities, as well as small- to -medium size businesses, who fly the flag of innovation.
